    Nature Strollers

    Hiking group for families with babies, toddlers and young children. Come take a one-hour hike at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center entrance on Muser Drive, across from 174 Angola Road, Cornwall. The popular Nature Stroller group will follow the gentle trails of the Outdoor Discovery Center and explore the field, pond and forest.

    Enjoy a hands-on fun nature lesson presented by an Environmental Educator before heading out on the trails. The trails are stroller and toddler friendly. Meet at the Visitors Center. Cost per adult/child pair: $5.00. Members are free. For more information call 845-534-5506 ext. 204.

    Discovery Quests Hiking Trails

    Experience the award-winning Discovery Quests Hiking Trails with specially created Guidebooks
    at the Outdoor Discovery Center.

    These trails are open weekends Mid-April through Mid-November. Quest Visitor Center is open from 9am until 1pm, Saturday and Sunday.
    Quest hiking trails are free. Quest Guidebooks are $5 at the Visitors Center and can be shared.

    The Discovery Quests are a unique, interactive way to learn about the environment for all ages. Participants wil be able to purchase a guidebook with illustrations, riddle poems and field notes describing each topic at the learning stations. The goal of each Quest is to find the “hidden message” of each hike.

    The Pond Quest is a short trail within view of the visitors’ center that meanders past ponds and cattails with stops at viewing platforms that over look the wetlands.

    Field Quest leads through the Museum’s farm fields and loops back through an open woodland. An easy hike on mostly flat terrain.

    Woodland Quest is an intriguing path of tree identification and animal habitats of the tree canopy and forest floor. A moderate trail with a few short hilly sections.

    Hiking Quest leads past geologic features and different signs of former human activity. A moderately challenging trail, perfect for hiking boots!

    The Pond, Field and Woodland Quests take about 30 to 45 minutes and the Hiking Quest takes from one to two hours. Each terrain varies in difficulty ranging from a flat stretch easy enough for wheelchairs and baby strollers, to the more challenging climbs of the forested slopes.

    Open Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-4pm.
    Guided activities at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm.
    Admission: $3 per child ages 2-10. Adults: donation appreciated
